This course utilizes the Neuman Systems Model in providing care to individuals, families and aggregates within the context of the community and institutions for psychiatric/mental health nursing. Biological, psychoanalytic, cognitive, behavioral, health and illness, self-care andpublic health theories will be discussed as well as the interaction of multiple stressors and nursing intervention of clients. The roles and responsibilities of the nurse in meeting the diverse needs of the clients within the context of a multidisciplinary health team and community health and psychiatric/mental health nursing will be covered utilizing three level of prevention. In addition, priority community health and psychiatric/mental health nursing concerns of Kuwait will be explored.
