Automotive and Marine Engineering Technology department aims at preparing the students to occupy positions in the technical departments of automotive and marine industry and to give them the knowledge, technological skills and scientific basis upon which they can advance toward higher qualifications and function effectively as technicians in the automotive and marine technology field.

Students studying for major in Automotive Engineering Technology are educated both practically and theoretically in the technology of various types of power-driven vehicles. The curriculum covers all vehicle subjects ranging from automotive engines to transmission line components, vehicle chassis systems, safety, automotive air conditioning, hybrid and electric vehicles, and automotive electric and electronic systems. The graduated students are able to solve problems related to the workplace through the application of their technical capabilities in automotive engineering technology. The study is complemented by extensive workshop, laboratory and field training in the automotive field. Students are trained in such a manner that they can work on any automotive area as technical staff. The students are acquainted with the maintenance, diagnostics, tune up, repair and overhaul of all components of the various transportation vehicles.

The students studying for major in Marine Engineering Technology are trained in such a manner that they acquire the skills to operate, maintain and repair the naval and marine systems and their related auxiliary's systems. The curriculum covers subjects ranging from marine engineering to naval architecture and ship construction. The graduated students are able to solve problems related to the workplace through the application of their technical capabilities in marine engineering technology. The study is complemented by extensive workshop, laboratory and field training in the marine field. Students are trained in such a manner that they can work on board ships as technical staff.

Automotive and Marine Engineering Technology department offers two areas of specifications:

  • Automotive Engineering Technology.
  • Marine Engineering Technology.

Automotive Program Educational Objectives:

The automotive program aims at giving students the knowledge and technological skills that prepare them to:

  • Function effectively as technicians in the automotive engineering technology field, (dismantle, assemble, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, tune up and overhaul automotive engines, transmission line systems, chassis systems, and electrical and electronic systems).
  • Solve problems related to the workplace through the application of their technical capabilities in automotive mechanics technology,
  • Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing,
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior, and
  • Continue their professional advancement through life-long learning opportunities and in-service training.

Marine Program Educational Objectives:

The marine program provides its graduates with the necessary knowledge, abilities, skills and attributes that qualify them to achieve within 2-3 years of graduation the following objectives:

  • Perform satisfactorily as technicians in the field of marine engineering technology (Dismantle, assemble, install, operate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain marine equipment/systems);
  • Solve problems related to the workplace through application of their technical capabilities in marine engineering technology;
  • Communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphical forms;
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior as well as respect for diversity; and
  • Pursue life-long learning through higher education, continuous professional development, and in-service training.
