The Department of Libraries and Information at the College of Basic Education at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training applies the procedures for academic accreditation through the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), a leading institution for professionals in the field of library, information and knowledge management in the British capital, London.
The achievement of the Department's academic accreditation is considered a certificate of the compatibility of the department's programs with international professional practices in the field. Also, these programs meet the latest requirements through professional knowledge, technical knowledge, skills, ethics, values, and capabilities granted to graduates to practice their work efficiently in libraries and information centres and knowledge management in Kuwait's institutions.
Accordingly, graduates of CILIP-accredited programs will have gained an internationally recognised academic degree as information professionals, which will facilitate their admission to graduate programs and their official registration as accredited practitioners by that global institution.
The department has completed all the requirements for academic accreditation and contacted the British delegation to visit the department from 8-10 May 2017. After reviewing the program and the financial and human resources, CILIP granted academic accreditation to the department as the first department in the College of Basic Education to obtain academic accreditation and as the first program to be granted accreditation by CILIP in the Arabic language on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
