Metallurgical characteristics of welded structures. Building upon physical metallurgy principles learned in previous courses. When the students finish this course they will know how the microstructure evolves in the different regions of both fusion welds and solid state welds. The students will also learn about the concept of weldability: the ability of a welded structure to be free of defects and being capable of meeting its intended application.
